2008 PMAR Realtor® of the Year
Steve Lucas, Oregon Realty Company
Lucas began his volunteer involvement as the 1995 co-chairman of the Washington County Association of Realtors® Risk Management Committee. Since then, he has served on many committees and task forces, including Budgeting, Strategic Planning, and Governance Review. He served as PMAR Vice President of Finance in 2006 and 2007, and this year he is PMAR Vice President of Governmental Affairs.
Lucas has been a visible and vocal supporter of PMAR’s governmental affairs efforts, as well as the Realtor® PAC. He served as the PMAR PAC Trustees Chairman in 2001, and was a member of the state ORPAC Trustees from 2001 through 2003. In addition, he has supported and encouraged many of his agents over the years to serve as the Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of PMAR’s Governmental Affairs Committee. Most recently, Oregon Realty Company was the winner of a company-to-company PAC fundraising contest, with the highest dollar amount contributed by brokers.
Lucas spent 30 years in the U.S. Army. After basic training, he volunteered for jump school. From there, he volunteered for the Special Forces “Green Berets.” After completing Special Forces training, he attended the Special Forces medic training, which involved almost an additional year. Lucas served in Vietnam for one year, and upon his return, joined the 12th Special Forces Reserve Group. He became the youngest Sergeant Major in the 12th group, and was highly respected as a soldier and leader.
